I was very fortunate to attend the Butterfly Ball this year in aid of the Mid West Cancer Foundation located opposite the Oncology Dept at University Hospital Limerick.

Part of their work includes offering patients who have completed their chemotherapy treatment, 6 holistic treatments to help boost their immune system and overall well-being.  I was very fortunate to meet some the survivors and will hopefully be helping out at the centre soon.

I also took part in Mental Health Awareness week working with the HSE through Limerick Social Services at 2 centres over 2 days doing Indian Head Massage. I believe we are all at risk of mental health issues such as depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety and much more and we are all too aware of this here in Limerick.  Holistic Therapies play and important role in the treatment of mental health and I’m delighted this is very much recognised by the HSE and Limerick Social Services.

Going forward in each newsletter, I will share a treatment plan case study and offer a Top Tip.  If you would like me to cover something specific, please get in touch on yvonne@justbe.ie

October Case Study – Hair Loss

Over the summer I treated a lady in her mid-40’s who was losing her hair.  Her Mum lives in Cork and she had major heart surgery earlier in the year.  My client was busy running a home in Limerick, going to work and then travelling twice a week to Cork to take care of her aging Mum and Dad.  However, leading up to the surgery and while her Mum was in hospital she was obviously very concerned about the outcome.  Needless to say, she was physically, mentally and emotionally stressed and the symptom of this manifestation showed itself in her hair loss.

Her treatment plan included 4 reflexology treatments, 1 per week for 4 weeks plus an aromatherapy blend to use twice a week at home.  By week 3 she saw an improvement and her hair wasn’t falling out anymore.

We all suffer from extreme stress from time to time and it can manifest in many different forms.  If this resonates with you, call today for a consultation and discussion on what treatment plan can work for you.

October Top Tip

It’s that time of year when viruses such as the flu are everywhere.  Protect you and your family by using Tea Tree and Lemon Essential Oils at home.

  1. Put a 2-3 drops of each oil in water in a burner and inhale the beautiful aroma.
  2. Add 2-3 drops of each oil to warm water and spray counter tops in your kitchen and bathroom.
  3. Take a bath with Epsom salts, baking soda or sea salt and add a few drops of both the tea tree and lemon essential oils

Atlantic Aromatic Oils are available from Just Be Holistic Therapies
