What’s been happening

So we are now back in the thick of it following September.  It’s been a busy month of work and play.  As you can see from the photo, I attended the Butterfuly Ball last Saturday in aid of Mid West Cancer Foundation, where I volunteer 4 hours a month doing holistic therapies for anyone going through cancer treatment at UHL from Limerick, Clare and Tipperary.  It’s an amazing charity who do so much for patients and family members to support them through a very difficult time.  Holistic Therapies such as Reiki and Reflexology help them cope with the awful side effects of treatments.  Cancer Reflexology is one of my specilties, so tell your friends and family members they can book an appointment with me here

I was also with Cook Medical in September for their Employee Health and Wellness week doing Reflexology.  If you work for an organisation who cares about their Employee Health and Wellness, please get in touch.

Once a month, I take the Just Be Private Clinic to Adare Health Foods & Wellness Centre located on Station Road in the middle of Adare Village.  My next clinic will take place this coming Saturday, 22nd April between 10am – 5pm for Reflexology, Reiki, Hopi Ear Candling, Back Massage or Indian Head Massage. BOOK NOW


The next set of Mindfulness Groups will commence next week on the following days and dates here at the Just Be Private Clinic in Glendale Lawn.  If you would like to take part in one of the follow groups, please BOOK NOW

I am delighted to confirm that the next set of Just Be Mindfulness will commence next week as follows:

Monday, 6th March at 10am
Friday, 10th March at 10am

Each course runs for 4 weeks and costs just €48, payable at the first session.  Book now to guarantee your place.  Please note, as St. Patrick’s Day is Friday this year, we will not have a session on 17th March but will continue the following week.

I have also had some interest in running an evening course and looking at Thursdays at 7pm.  If this is of interest to you please let me know.

What’s happening in Janaury?

Firstly, a very Happy New Year to each and every one of you.  Needless to say I’m very excited to start 2017 and, as promised, I’m delighted to announce the first course of Just Be Mindful Meditation which will start this month and run throughout the year going forward.  With only 2 places remaining for the first course starting on Monday, 23rd January at 10am please let me know if you can join us immediately.  Each course will run in blocks of 4 weeks continuously for the year and each block will cost €48, payable in advance to secure your place.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing your attention on the present moment—and accepting it without judgment. Mindfulness is now being examined scientifically and has been found to be a key element in happiness.

Professor emeritus Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder and former director of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, helped to bring the practice of mindfulness meditation into mainstream medicine and demonstrated that practicing mindfulness can bring improvements in both physical and psychological symptoms as well as positive changes in health attitudes and behaviors.

The benefits of mindfulness are widely recorded and not only benefit our mental well-being but also our physical and emotional well-being also.  Here are some of the benefits;

  • Increasing your capacity for mindfulness supports many attitudes that contribute to a satisfied life.
  • Being mindful makes it easier to savor the pleasures in life as they occur, helps you become fully engaged in activities, and creates a greater capacity to deal with adverse events.
  • By focusing on the here and now, many people who practice mindfulness find that they are less likely to get caught up in worries about the future or regrets over the past, are less preoccupied with concerns about success and self-esteem, and are better able to form deep connections with others.
  • Physically being mindful will help relieve stress, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep and even alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties
  • Mentally being mindful will help improve symptoms of depression, substance abuse, eating disorders, conflicts and anxiety disorders
