I know some of you are just as happy to be getting back to some normality but there will be some changes before and when you arrive at the clinic.

1. if you feel unwell or have been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19, please wait at least 2 weeks before booking your appointment.
2. I will confirm the day before your appointment by text, but again if you feel unwell I would advise cancelling your appointment.
3. On arrival I will meet you at the door as before but no hugs or hand shakes and you will be asked to sanitise your hands.  If you wish to wear a mask please do, but it is not necessary.  However, I would ask you to bring your own drinking water for after your treatment.
4. As a practice, hygiene standards have always been top priority but you will notice that I will be wearing PPE to protect myself and you from the risk of any cross contamination.  We must remember, that there is still no vaccine or cure for Covid-19 so maximum precautions will be taken as per government guidelines.
5. The room will be ventilated during your treatment so please wear warm comfortable clothing.
6. A break between appointments will be necessary to clean down any surfaces that may be contaminated so please be patient if there is a delay between appointments.

Most importantly, you will feel comfortable and secure as before when you visit the Just Be Clinic and rest assured I will take care that you relax and get the maximum benefit of your treatment.

I can’t wait to welcome you back so please BOOK NOW if you haven’t already done so.  Also, please feel free to call if you have any questions or concerns about booking going forward.

A Gift From Me To Me This Valentine’s

A Gift From Me To Me This Valentine’s

A gift of love from me to me this Valentine’s

Yes, so why do we wait for gifts of love from someone else?  Why don’t we just do it for ourselves?  Every now and again this question pops up for me and it happened again on Monday.

I was doing the BIG clean around the house as you do.  I actually don’t mind cleaning generally but when you take on the whole house in one go it’s hard work.  I start at the top of the house, bathrooms, bedrooms, treatment room which for some reason I enjoy.  Then the dreaded stairs and the task becomes overwhelming thinking of what’s left to do.  Vaccuming the hall, sitting room, kitchen/dining room, then the steam cleaner comes out for the tiled floors.  I was so ‘grumpy’ at the end of it I just thought I’ve had enough.

Before my hip surgery, I had a cleaner.  But I decided in my wisdom that I could now do the cleaning myself and save a few quid.  However, this week I realised that my own wellbeing is worth the ‘few quid’ so I got in touch with my lovely cleaner again and she’s available.  Yippee!!!

Then on Tuesday morning I went for my own Reflexology treatment with a friend.  At the end of the treatment, I was booking in my next session when I realised my preferred time co-incided with when the cleaner is coming.  I burst out laughing, saying, ‘how bad, I’ll be lying down having reflexology while my house is cleaned’.  I couldn’t have planned it better.  I was so happy and pleased with myself.  So I’ve now decided that I’m going to continue this routine going forward.  imagine the joy of having a treatment, then coming home to a clean house.  Oh what joy!!!

So that’s my loving gift from me to me.  What will you do for you this Valentine’s?  No guilt or judgement please, just do what makes you happy.  And let me know how you get on please…

50 and Feeling Fabulous

So while I was swimming this morning I was thinking back to this time last year. I knew I was going to be having surgery and that my mother would also have major surgery before she started doing dialysis.  It was somewhat daunting but here we are a year later and all is well.  How blessed we are that everything worked out.

Then I started thinking about how 2019 is going and how I want to continue the year.  Well this month I turn 50 and I have a few treats planned and really excited about the year ahead.  Then I started to check in with my physical body as I moved through the water and thought ‘I feel fabulous’. Then I thought how do I feel mentally and emotionally and again I thought ‘I feel fabulous’  Even now I feel fabulous writing this even though I did lose my swimming hat, goggles and ear plugs in the dressing room, but I’m sure someone just put them in their bag by accident and they’ll be returned. Anyway I’ve decided I want to feel like this all year, so my moto and hastag for this year will be #50andfeelingfabulous

How will I achieve feeling fabulous

Since I started Just Be, everyday I work towards being happy and healthy and generally, well 90% of the time, I am.  I honestly love the life I have created.  That won’t change and like always there will be bumps along the way. But what does happy and healthy feel like?  Well for me, this year anyway, it’s feeling fabulous!

Like you, things don’t always work out.  The car breaks down, the washing machine dies, appointments get cancelled, we loose stuff, the list is endless.  But these things are fixable and temporary so I focus on the bigger things like my family and friends, my home, my work and the things that make me feel fabulous. I practice what I preach by taking care of myself first before others and I know who I can rely on when I need support.  Trust me I don’t do it all myself.  Yes I put the work in but I get twice as much back.

So I challenge you to also feel fabulous every day.  Take a moment each day and think ‘how am I doing?’ and change it if you don’t like how you feel.

Improve positive feelings with Reiki

Improve positive feelings with Reiki

So how do you know how you want to feel and do you practise self care?  Self care starts with how you want to feel?  It’s different for everyone and the list is endless including things like I want to feel loved, accepted, appreciated, abundant, balanced, free, happy, healthy, joy, peace, etc., etc.

More simply put, we have positive feelings and negative feelings.  We want to increase the postive feelings and reduce the negative feelings.  This takes practice, practice, practice until you realise 2-3 core feelings you want to feel everyday.  Yes, you will experience other feelings too, generally about things outside of your control but everything else you can decide to feel positive about it or negative about it.

How can Reiki help?

So how do you know which feelings to focus on and which to delete?  Well, I can help by doing Reiki on you and accessing which areas of your body we need to focus on. For example, I recently worked with someone who felt inferior to colleagues at work.  During the treatment her throat chakra came up as unbalanced and I felt that this person needed to be more assertive.  The person agreed they would love to say what they want and we worked on how they could do exactly this without offending anyone.

I work on myself everyday to achieve my feelings of being happy and healthy by making decisions that will enhance these feelings rather than not.  An example, to feel healthy I need to work in a healthy way which means doing what I love as a therapist and this also makes me feel happy doing what I am so passionate about.  To feel healthy I need to eat healthy which for me means being organised and knowing what I will have for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Do I snack, yes, I just ate a biscuit from the Christmas tin but I enjoyed it and I’m not going to beat myself up about it.  Why should I, it’s only a biscuit.  BUT, because I’m not hungry and have prepared my meals I don’t eat the whole tin in one go. Yes, this would have happened in the past.

When life gets you down…

When life gets you down…

When life gets you down…

So it’s November and I’m wondering how I got here as life has been a whilwind lately of emotions, change and learning how to adjust.  As you know from previous emails, in September my Mum had major surgery to remove her kidney with cancer and is now on dialysis for the rest of her life.  Whilst I was prepared in some way for the logistics of my Mum’s surgery and the changes that would entale, I was in no way prepared for the emotional trauma and stress myself and my family have gone through.  Yes I am strong and resilient thanks to my work and practice of Reiki and Mindfulness, but sometimes life just gets you down.

Self Care & Top Tips

In the mist of all this I did reach out to my very trusted friends and work colleagues. I also attended the National Women’s Enterprise Day, with Limerick Enterprise Office at Adare Manor in October and to say it was inspirational is an understatement.  All the speakers had compelling stories to tell about their lives and the stuggles they have overcome.  What struck me most however, was all the speakers gave ‘top tips’ and everyone of them had ‘self care’ as a priority.  With all that was going on I forgot to care for myself.  What was I thinking?  I live and breath to ‘Just Be’ and here I was worrying about everyone and everything before myself.

So I let go of the outcome and trusted that my Mum and all of us around her would cope and adjust to our new normal.  Yes there has been immense change but here we are now in November and all is well I’m delighed to say.

I’ve also observed some of you have been through similar truamtic feelings, especially those of you who have lost a loved one.  One regular visitor to my clinic, who recently lost her Mum, told me about the book ‘Bringing Dealth to Life’ by Patricia Scanlon, Dr. Mary Helen Hensley, Aidan Storey and Pamela Young.  It’s a beautiful book exploring life, death and the afterlife.  If you or someone you know if going through grief or an emotional challenge, I strongly recommend this book.

I guess the important lesson from all of this is to always continue self care, as that is what pulls you through the good and the not so good.  So if I can help you this November please book now or call call/text 0868968409 for an appointment.
